Believe in yourself, even when no one else does.
Those words mean the world to me as well as it should for you.
Even before I became a fitness professional and really just lead an active lifestyle, the majority of people, and by majority I mean 80% or more thought I was foolish or maybe a better word would be weird just because I worked out and was active.
I come from a little town and the lifestyle is pretty laid back. Don’t get me wrong, there were some that liked to stay healthy but just not very common.
I always have done what I thought was right and being fit was no different. Not that I was fit, just active. My diet wasn’t the best, I smoked and I drank more than casually. That was kind of the normal thing for at least the people that I knew.
After a yearly checkup with my doctor, which the results were less that perfect health, I decided to do something about it. It didn’t make me follow the crowd with my new lifestyle but I didn’t care cause I wanted to give myself every chance in the world to live to a ripe old age.
Yes, I lost friends in the process, which was hard at first, but my health was the number one priority in my life,as it should be for everyone.
Then I couldn’t believe the change in my physical health and yes, my mental health as well. In my 40’s I decided to take a different career path and become a personal trainer, hoping to help others. When I came up with this new career choice folks thought I flew off the deep end. Keep in mind, I’m not from one of the healthiest towns on earth, and yeah, that was normal for most folks.
Bit I believed in myself, even when most folks didn’t. I knew I had it in myself to “change” and hopefully help others change as well and well as they say, the rest is history.
As I say to clients and anyone else that will listen, whatever you pursue, BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!!
You might just be surprised what you can accomplish when you are healthier, both physically and mentally.
Sincerely, Roger.
