You may get a little bit older from year to year but you really don’t have to age. When I say this I mean that you can either be aging gracefully or you can think you’re old when you are near or hit the half century mark.

I love the sayings, “50 is the new 35”, “45 is the new 30”. Whoever started these quotes or sayings really knew what they were talking about.

With today’s medical advances and yes “common sense” about how to stay healthy as you get a little older, why is society in the midst of an obesity epidemic? There are so many reasons for this:
• Technology
• 2 income families
• Fast foods
• No time to exercise (yeah right)

Now back to aging right. I’m no fool. Some folks are just destined to not lead a very healthy life. Genetics play a large part in it. I would bet that any of these folks would give anything to be able to get out and go for a run, walk, or jog but aren’t able to and the folks that are able to, just don’t.

Some folks think that trying to get into shape in your 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and so on is nuts. Well I have one brother-in-law approaching 70 years old and I must say he is in as good of shape as I am, if not better. I have another brother-in-law that’s my age and he runs marathons, goes to the gym, plays sports and is also just as healthy as I if not healthier.

So no, I’m not going to take this getting older thing very well. I’m going to fight it as much as I can by eating right, exercising, and not sitting back on the recliner every chance I get.

Folks tell me I look better than I did 20 years ago and it’s a great feeling and in case you’re wondering, most days I do feel 30-35 years old.

Looking forward to helping you fight this aging thingy as much as possible in the future when I get my certification, likely around November. Believe me, If I can do it, you can also.
