Fit After 40??? Of Course 🙂
Ok, some of us tend to live very busy lives. Between work, kids, running the household, the list could go on and on. On your schedule of things to do the first thing we would tend to do without to make our lives more manageable is to eliminate exercise. After this you would have a few choices:
- Pretend that you don’t need to exercise
- Not totally write it off but put it off until next month or even next year
- Try again to fit it into our busy schedule
A fact of life that people tend to ignore or yes deny is that without some physical activity in their life, they tend not to age so well. Their quality of life will be low at best and yes lead to a shortened lifespan. They also tend to ignore the fact that instead of spending their golden years in their own home, they will more than likely enter a nursing home 10 to 15 years before they should or with an active lifestyle, perhaps the need to enter one wouldn’t exist. Just think, when you are still in your 40’s and 50’s and pretending you don’t need to exercise, 20 or 30 years down the road, when you are sitting outside in front of your nursing home, I will more than likely be riding by on my bike and wishing you a fine day. A scary thought? Perhaps, but a fact for most except for a few that defy the odds.
All you really need to start exercising are:
- 5 minutes a day, that’s all, then increasing to 10 minutes etc.
- A commitment to start
- A plan
In this day and age when everyone wants stuff to happen yesterday and happen at lightning speed, exercise and the road to physical fitness just doesn’t happen that way. It takes patience, determination, energy (that comes from proper eating), sacrifices, and spontaneity.
So really what it all comes down to is choice. You do have a choice in the way you spend the 2nd half of your life. You can choose to have a better, healthier, more rewarding, independant life in your middle age and beyond or you can choose to have a less healthy, lower quality of life. The choice is yours!!
